Prabhakar Rao

Dr. M. Prabhakar Rao is the Chairman of the NSL Group, whose flagship company, Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. (NSL), is one of the largest seed company in India. He has been a pioneer in making new agricultural technologies accessible to farmers at affordable prices, effectively bridging the gap between technology developers and seed companies. Beyond the seed industry, Dr. Rao has contributed significantly to India’s industrial growth through investments in power, textiles, integrated sugar factories, and IT infrastructure, including IT Parks and IT SEZs.
Dr. Rao served as the President of the Indian Sugar & Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA), currently the President of the National Seed Association of India (NSAI), and Chairman of FICCI – Andhra Pradesh State Council. He has also served on several national and international bodies, including the Cotton Advisory Board (Ministry of Textiles), International Seed Federation (ISF), PPVFR Authority, and the Central Seed Committee, Government of India.
A strong proponent of Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Rao established the Mandava Foundation, a charitable trust dedicated to the development of rural India through initiatives in education, healthcare, and agricultural productivity. He is also the President of the Swarna Bharat Trust (SBT), Vijayawada Chapter, which undertakes skill development programs for unemployed youth, vocational training for rural women, computer education for rural students, and agricultural training for farmers, with a special focus on natural farming. In addition, he supports several other NGOs, including Sevabharathi Trust and Ekalavya Foundation.
Under the prestigious P4 scheme of the honorable CM of AP he adopted about 200 families in Thukkuluru and AGIRIPALLI villages in Eluru district to mentor and support to them come out of poverty and lead a better life.
