About the partner
Chakra is the Managing Director & Head of Technology, India for Morgan Stanley. He is also a farmer, and yoga and meditation practitioner.
Chakra served as the Chairperson of the Bengaluru Chapter of SVP India from 2019 – 2022. Other roles played by Chakra at SVP India – Lead Partner, Grants Committee and Grants Review Committee, and Chapter Management Committee.
My Journey at SVP
“I joined SVP by accident. I ran into Akila, who was the Chair of SVP Bengaluru at that time, and she convinced me to join. I came back to India after living in the US for nearly two decades. The in-your-face poverty in India and all the issues faced by various underprivileged sections of society affected me deeply. I didn’t know how I could get involved and make a meaningful difference. When Akila talked about SVP, it seemed like a good place to start.
From the very first chapter meeting, I knew that I was in the right place. I was really impressed with all the partners I met. Their passion, commitment and ability to make impact really inspired me. SVP opened the door to the social sector and gave me an opportunity to explore and learn. Through SVP, I was exposed to several NGOs and leaders in the field who are doing amazing work. I went on several field visits, met with end beneficiaries and got actively involved in a few of our investee projects. This helped me gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by our beneficiaries and our investees.
I have been involved in various projects, some that were a big success and some that didn’t quite work out. I have learnt that the key to success is the people involved. I am excited to be part of SVP, because SVP has the people with the right mindset, commitment and capabilities to have high scale impact. Joining SVP is one of the best things that has happened to me. I consider myself extremely lucky to be part of this fantastic partnership.”
