There is just so much I have learnt from SVP, not only from my fellow partners, but also from the NGOs associated with it. It has been a wonderful journey for me to see the level of philanthropy in and around SVP. I have been associated with the Grants Committee as well as the Selection Team for Fast Pitch, which has again given me the opportunity to look closely at several NGOs while assessing them and experiencing the assessment of the partners.
I am totally new in this field, but who cannot be aware of the problems of our society? The problems being dealt by the NGOs is so diverse: ranging from simple handicrafts, menstrual health to livelihood for persons with disabilities or HIV. Helping tribal women or even educating children and women in villages, and then giving the m a source of income has been often an uphill task for the NGOs. The dedication is amazing, and so many of them are so steeped in helping others, that they have given up their own careers and supported them through their own finances.
SVP has shared talks from wonderful speakers who have shared their life’s experiences and how they have overcome their difficulties. I look forward to being a part of this ‘giving’ team in the future. Thanks to Parul and Bhagyashree who have been coordinating all the SVP activities with perfection.
