COVID had a multifaceted impact on the lives of marginalized community members (Female Sex Workers, MSM, TG & People Living with HIV). The lockdown has decimated the livelihood of sex workers. During the lockdown period, SVP Hyderabad Chapter supported this community by distributing Ration and Hygiene Kits to the 1200 members. (1000 Female Sex workers & 200 PLHIVs). At present SVP Hyderabad chapter is supporting 2 community-based organizations in promoting alternative livelihoods for community members. Alternative livelihoods will help community members to decrease dependency on sex work and shape their lives, which in turn can enable them to adopt and sustain low-risk behaviour. We are very thankful to the SVP team for extending this support.
