Jagruti Seva Sanstha is a registered NGO working at the grass-root level in the slums in Pune and nearby areas, in the field of education, vocational training and healthcare since 1997. Jagruti, as the name suggests, strives for ‘awakening’ of the underprivileged towards new knowledge, better skills, values and attitudes.
Its main objective is to initiate the welfare of the needy and poor to become self-reliant through education and awareness with special emphasis on vocational training and healthcare for women and children. Its primary focus areas are- education, healthcare and vocational training.

SVP-Jagruti Partnership
SVP and Jagruti are striving to build a better world and today this partnership is showing results that we can be proud of. From running the program with just 25 girls each year, Jagruti now trains about 500 girls and boys as nursing and patient care aides ready to be employed by hospitals across Pune city and its neighboring semi-rural regions. Jagruti was already running this program before SVP decided to fund them but with appropriate financial assistance and the right strategic direction brought in by SVP Pune, the program has scaled at an impressive rate.
Story of success
Jagruti has impacted the lives of over 1300 men and women from the community over a period of five years. The partnership also helped Jagruti focus on measuring results, learning about what was and was not working and capturing that knowledge in order to ensure that SVP’s investment was truly making a difference.
