Story of success
The Eastern Himalayan Foundation (EHF) has been working for over three years to empower youth from underserved communities in Darjeeling and Kalimpong to become changemakers and access higher education and career opportunities. Through its two flagship programs — the Trailblazer Fellowship and Empower Ed — EHF nurtures young leaders and first-generation learners. The Trailblazer Fellowship supports youth-led community projects with stipends and mentorship, having graduated 40 fellows who have implemented 29 projects and mobilized over 5,000 youth. The current fourth cohort includes 25 fellows leading 15 new initiatives. Empower Ed guides rural students from career unawareness to readiness, successfully placing 50+ students in leading universities such as Azim Premji University, TISS, Shiv Nadar University, and BML Munjal, and 18 in prestigious fellowships like Teach for India and the Young India Fellowship.
