Aftertaste was started with the vision to empower women from economically disadvantaged communities using art and craft and enable them to break the vicious cycle of social and economic poverty by generating a dignified livelihood and equipping the women with knowledge and skills.
Aftertaste has trained 500 women and transformed 45 unskilled homemaker women to employable skilled artists and artisans who work each day and earn a dignified livelihood from the sales of their handmade products. In addition to skills, the women have been equipped with social skills, general knowledge, and enriched with awareness of educational opportunities, healthcare and financial and digital literacy.

Create a stable and resilient organisation: With SVP’s support in the area of strategic thinking and organisation development, Aftertaste has been able to progress towards creating a more stable organisation and build capacity. This includes hiring new people on staff to support the founder in the area of operational management, daily accounting, marketing and communication.
Strengthen sales and marketing: SVP has helped Aftertaste develop a rolling plan for marketing with continuous creation of product catalogues and social media presence across all platforms. Aftertaste has been able to create a fast turnaround time to queries on social media with ready marketing content and a robust FAQ.
Improve and streamline operations: Aftertaste has trained and filled the skill gap of the stitching team and created a pipeline of orders. They have also been able to set up a back office space for inventory management, and product display.
Since SVP’s intervention, the founder has been able to focus on strategic thinking and grow the team from being single-handed along with just the beneficiaries, to have 3 more members on staff.
Aftertaste has been able to step forward towards the vision of breaking the vicious cycle, as 2 team members recruited on staff are the next generation of the beneficiaries of Aftertaste.
One of the team members apart from pursuing higher education is fulfilling the role of admin cum accounts and inventory management.
The other team member recruited is handling the social media along with assisting in creation of digital marketing content for Aftertaste. With SVP’s support our focus has been on grooming and building talent from the community, thus fulfilling the dream of the beneficiaries to steer their children on the path of opportunities through education.
