Roopam Asthana & Sonia Asthana

Roopam has 37+ years of experience in BFSI sector, including roles in commercial banking, NBFC, credit card operations, and general insurance. He holds a Physics degree from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. He spent 17 years at HSBC Bank, working across India and the USA, gaining expertise in strategic planning, commercial lending, trade finance, retail lending, NRI banking, and credit cards. He also served as CEO of joint ventures (SBI Card) between GE Capital and State Bank of India. Additionally, he spent 15 years as CEO of Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Joint Venture in India, overseeing a startup operation.
Roopam is now exploring opportunities post-retirement and is involved in DEI initiatives, focusing on practical skilling for employment. His interests include sports, mentoring, reading, music, and sports-related travel.
Sonia Asthana is a Fellow Chartered Accountant by profession and a home maker at present. She has been a past Vice President of Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Pier and is currently actively associated with education for children from the lesser privileged sections of our neighborhood in schools in Kamathipura and Tardeo run by BMC and the David Sassoon Industrial School, Matunga for rescued children that need care and protection.
