The SVP-Vihaan Partnership

SVP has been supporting Vihaan in piloting a first-of-its-kind program of training and placing survivors of human trafficking – who are within shelter homes – onto a path of a meaningful and sustainable livelihood. Under the program, 20 candidates were enrolled for skill training in 3 domains: Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Housekeeping, and Security. The program also envisaged convergence of relevant government and non-government stakeholders to make opportunities for skill training inclusive in reintegration plans for the survivors.
Vihaan had actively worked with partners in the ecosystem to place the candidates in suitable organisations who are now out of the shelter home drawing an average salary of INR 11-14,000/- per month.

Story of success

The project has had many moving parts requiring special permissions from government agencies, curation of training and experimentation with the curriculum as well as curation of training partners and opportunities.
From the inception of the project, the SVP partners have been working on a fortnightly basis with the Vihaan team to test, iterate, gather findings and course-correct on this program. Their support for linkages with training institutes and corporates for placement and other funding opportunities has been of immense value.
SVP has helped Vihaan register with Give India, the crowdfunding platform through which they have raised close to 10 lakhs during the year before last.
